Orange is the New Magenta? A Winter Story

I’m just going to say it. Winter is definitely my least favorite season. Besides the facts that it’s freezing cold and the days are so short, I find it to be the most difficult season to plan exciting outfits for. It’s the season of sweaters and jeans and whatever it takes to stay warm…boring As someone attempting to snap decent-looking photos of my outfits to share with you, these conditions are not ideal. It’s the season of the mirror selfie!

Rather than countdown the days until spring, I tried a new strategy this year. A bright orange coat caught my eye. At the time, it didn’t feel like the most sensible purchase but it was so beautiful and a bright spot in a bleak tundra of bulky, black coats. I wasn’t expecting how lovely the coat is in person. But more shocking, it paired well with and up-leveled so many of my outfits. From adding some spice to an otherwise neutral outfit to creating a fun color combo, this coat goes way beyond providing warmth to making outfits even better. Rather than covering up my pairings, I was building on them! Some of my favorites are below.

While I can’t control the weather or how long the sun stays out, let this act as a bit of inspiration that we can still add some excitement to our wardrobe during the deep freeze. Have some fun with your outerwear to make a meaningful difference to a whole season of outfits.

My exact coat is no longer available in orange but I’m linking in below in grey. I’ve also collected a couple other options in eye-catching colors that are currently on sale. Click each to shop!
